Sierra Edmisten for Ward 1 City Council
Fresh Ideas.
Hastings Values.
I’m Sierra Edmisten, and I’m running for Ward 1 City Council because I believe our neighborhoods deserve a strong voice, our residents deserve a city government they can trust, and Hastings deserves leadership that is willing to listen, ask questions, and get to work.
I’m committed to bringing greater transparency and accountability to City Hall, making sure Ward 1 and the South Side are heard and invested in, and building a Hastings where families and the next generation can see a future for themselves.
I’m ready to listen, ready to work, and ready to represent Ward 1.

Meet Sierra
Hi, I’m Sierra. Hastings has been my home for almost all of my life. I have lived here for 23 years. It’s where I grew up, it’s what I call home, and it’s where I chose to raise my kids. As a mom, I see Hastings not only for where it is today, but as the community I hope my children will choose to live in.
I want Hastings to be a place where families can build a life, where young people have opportunities to get involved and belong, and where everyone in the community can imagine a future for themselves without feeling like they have to leave Hastings to find it.
Rooted in Hastings
Long before I decided to run for office, I was involved in the community in the way that I feel matters most: by showing up.
I have coached T-ball, flag football, and Little League. I have volunteered with Bridging Forward and other nonprofits in our community. I am an active member of St. Michael’s Church and have helped with and taught CCD on Wednesday nights. I currently serve as Vice President of the enCourage board and participate in several community coalitions.
My professional work as a community organizer has also given me the opportunity to sit down with people all over Hastings and listen to their experiences, concerns, and ideas. These conversations have reinforced something I have always strongly believed: people want to be involved in their community, but they need to know that their voice matters.
Why Ward 1
I am especially passionate about making sure that Ward 1 and the South Side receive the attention, investment, and representation they deserve. Where someone lives in Hastings shouldn’t determine whether they feel connected to their city government or whether they believe their neighborhood is a priority.
Ward 1 residents deserve a representative who is present, accessible, and willing to bring their concerns directly to the table. I will be that person.
Priorities for Hastings
Sierra’s priorities reflect conversations with Ward 1 neighbors and community members across Hastings.
